Susan Notorangelo

An outstanding, record-setting bike racer in the 1980s who maintains her activity in the sport to this day.

Susan Notorangelo was one of the toughest competitors in American cycling during the 1980s, three times completing a transcontinental journey, with improved times each year. In 1989, she was able to set the record for women, finishing the race with a neat time of nine days, nine hours and nine minutes.

During her racing peak, she helped co-found the National Organization for Women’s Cycling Network and has served as its Executive Director. She’s also been active in civic affairs in her adopted hometown of Sharon, Wisconsin.

She was elected to the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
