Greg Mannino

After losing a leg at age 17, Greg Mannino became one of the top athletes in the Paralympics, winning multiple skiing medals in the process.

Greg Mannino lost a leg when he was electrocuted just before his 18th birthday. An above-the-knee amputee, Mannino became one of the top Paralympic athletes in the world.

A downhill skier, Mannino was a member of the U.S. Disabled Ski Team from 1986-2001 and a five-time Paralympic team member. He medaled 22 times in Paralympic and World Championship Alpine events. His winnings brought him the respect of his peers and the sports press; he was the first Paralympic athlete to be featured on the cover of Skiing Magazine.

Mannino was elected to the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
