FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago, IL (February 12, 2014) – The National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame (NIASHF) is getting a lot of support for its Thursday, February 13th Rocky Marciano Amateur Boxing Tournament from some of the greatest boxing heroes to have ever stepped into the ring.

Former Olympians and World ChampionsEvander Holyfield, David Diaz, Montell Griffin, Fernando Vargas, Danell Nicholson, Mike Garcia, and John Collins are all scheduled to attend the sold out charitable event that will take place at the NIASHF national headquarters on Taylor Street in Chicago’s historic Little Italy.

The fun-filled evening represents the kickoff for the organization’s 2014 fundraising program and supports its redefined grants program. The NIASHF funds sports-related programs that directly benefit at-risk inner city youth and disabled children and adults. In 2013, grants were made to local and national organizations through the NIASHF’s Second Wind and A Level Playing Field charitable programs.

George Randazzo, the President and Founder of the NIASHF said, “bringing champions of sport and our supporters together so we can join forces to help kids and others in need is what the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame is all about.”

The event is being chaired by Bill Conforti and Mike Joyce, and will also honor Enrico Mirabelli and Mayor Ronald Serpico for their friendship to the organization. Other dignitaries are scheduled to attend.
