Piazza DiMaggio
The Piazza DiMaggio, located across the street from the Hall of Fame, was a gift from the City of Chicago as an effort to revitalize Little Italy's Bishop Street area. At the 1998 dedication ceremony Dominic DiMaggio mentioned the touching irony that the street where the Piazza is located shares the name of the street in Martinez, California, where the DiMaggio family grew up. The Piazza featured a stunning sculpture of "The Yankee Clipper" and is the perfect place to enjoy a summer day or take a picture.

"The National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame is a wonderful addition to Taylor Street and the City of Chicago. It will be a reminder of the contributions by Italian Americans to every field of athletic endeavor."

- Mayor Richard Daley
