  • Phil Mickelson, one of the top golfers on the PGA Tour, is suspending his Tour schedule indefinitely in order to be with his wife, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Click HERE

  • Anthony Chimino, CEO of Assurance Agency, Ltd. elected to the NIASHF Board of Directors. Anthony has been the CEO since 2001. Prior to starting at Assurance in 1996, he was an underwriting manger at a national insurance company, where his insurance career began in 1992. Today, Assurance is among the 75 largest insurance brokerages in the United States. Assurance places over $450 million in premiums annually for businesses and individuals, and is staffed by 200 employees. Assurance has received numerous awards and accolades as a "top place to work" from Crain's Chicago Business, the Business Ledger and the National Alliance for Business Resources.
  • The National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame was well represented at the NECO awards ceremony on Saturday May 9th. NIASHF Leadership members Joe Moglia and Mike O'Malley along with Board of Director Robert Allegrini received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Congratulations to them. The NIASHF is very proud of the recognition they received and of our association with these deserving contributors.
  • Dominic DiMaggio, the youngest of the three DiMaggio brothers who played in the Major Leagues, passed away Friday, May 8, at the age of 92 at his home in Marion, Mass. Click HERE. A couple of months ago, DiMaggio gave an exclusive interview to Red White & Green Magazine. It appears in the Joe DiMaggio commemorative issue, which is available now.
  • Donate to Abruzzo earthquake relief fund
    The magnitude 6.3 earthquake that recently struck the town of LAquila and other small towns in the region of Abruzzo in central Italy has left over 270 dead and 28,000 homeless. Click HERE to donate to the relief effort.

Located in Chicago's historic "Little Italy" neighborhood, the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit educational institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of Italian Americans in sports. Our collection aims to honor and preserve Italian Americans who have made lasting contributions to sports and society. The NIASHF has awarded over $6 million in scholarships to students from all backgrounds for their academic and athletic endeavors through our Second Wind and A Level Playing Field outreach programs.
